Evaluation of Magazine cover

We looked at some magazine covers and see how they could be improved and more apealing to teenages.

So miss elger set us the task to make are own magazine cover and contets page on photo shop. We were told to plan the cover and the contents page on a peice of A3 paper, and were to put our cover lines and masthead. After planning we were told to take a mid shot of a person to put on the front of the magazine and put it on photo shop. When it was on photo shop we had to cut it out and include the cover line and masthead then get onto the the contents page after. With the contents page i just put some cover lines in and picture around them.

By doing this task i learnt how to use alot of the basics on photo shop as i had no idea how to use it before. Now i have more confidence using it now.

What do we learn about the family?

We first see shot we seein this sence is the hole family at the dinner table with the daughter in the middle. Which i think is showing that the only reqason why they are still togther is because of the child.
You can tell that the family is not very close because the lester only speaks to them when there is something wrong with him also Carolyn and are Lester are the furvist away from each other this also represents distance in the family. Carolyn goes through the same routeen every day when eating her dinner showing that she does'nt like change. When they are all at the dinner table Jane is the only peron in the room hat has light on her face showing the audience she is the symbol of the rose in the family, also she is sat right behind the roses on the table more evidence showing that she is the rose of the family. Lester is also shone with bad posture when sitting down i think that this shows signs of weekness and over the years he has been controlled by Carolyn and formed bad posture. There is alot of photos around the house showing that they wasn't like this and something must of happened to make them lose their closness.
The movment of the camera of the first shot when coming in the room is fare away showing the hole family but as the scene on the camera moves closer to the making the audience fell like thay are spying on the family. The long shots in the scene is where they start but get closer and there is a varitiy of astablishing shot.
There is diegetic in the scene which are sounds that are part of the film and non diegetic shots which are sounds that are not apart of the film. There is enthsis with the slow music to catch the moment. The music that Carolyn was playing is called Bail Hai from South Africa which is from 1949 and shows that she is very old fationed.

In this film there are lots of signs that show lester is trapped and being
controlled by his family. For example the first shot of the film is the camera
in birds eye veiw looking down on lester. There is him in the shower but the shot
is him in the shower with the glass seperating them. There is his looking at his wife
from the inside with the camera on the outside but the window was representing bar
to show that hi is trapped. And finallly there is a reflection of him in his computter with
the numbers in the shape of bars.
There is also so evidence showing that his is trapped. For example his wife is
waiting for him to get in the car aswere it is usally the other way around strerotipicly.
His wife is driving the car and he is sitting in the back of the car holding his suitcase
like a child.
There is also some evidence of what the target audenice is Americans because when he
drops his suitcase red, white and blue paper falls out.
